Current Outreach Projects
The Deacon's Discretionary Fund
On the first Sunday of each month the loose offering
in the collection plate goes to the Discretionary Fund.
These funds are available for Deacon Chris to use
for outreach needs in the community at his discretion.
United Thank Offering
The annual United Thank Offering Ingathering will be during the Diocesan Convention, October 26-28. If you have been using "a little blue box," you need to turn the money in to the Christ Church Office by October 22. You can write a check to Christ Episcopal Church with UTO on the memo line, but remember it must be in the church office by October 22 to be included in the convention ingathering.
Grab-A-Bag Program
The purpose of this program is to put a nutritional bag meal in the hands of every homeless or hungry person who comes to the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church in downtown Clarksburg between 2:30-3:15 PM each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from now until near the end of November. Churches and organizations in the area are partnering together to accomplish this. Christ Church will be responsible for the third Thursday of each month.
Kipp Martin is coordinating the packing of food and delivery to the homeless. Monetary donations are welcome. You can write a check payable to Christ Church with "for Grab-a-Bag" written on the memo line.
Checks can be placed in the offering plates
or mailed to Christ Episcopal Church,
PO Box 1492,
Clarksburg, WV 26302-1492.
Backpack Blessings
Thanks to the generosity of our parishioners, we can fill 75 backpacks each week for two headstart programs, one in Clarksburg and one in Shinnston.

Volunteer shoppers purchase the food each week with donated money and it is stored on shelves at Christ Church.
On Sunday mornings after the service, anyone wanting to participate is welcome to help fill the food bags.

Then midweek volunteers take the bags to the designated sites so those children will have food to eat on the weekend.
Christ Church gives each backpack family a grocery store gift card to help with their Christmas dinners.

As the Christmas parade formed on the streets around Christ Church, the church restrooms were made available to the public.

Over 250 Christmas parade goers were treated to a brief respite from the cold and/or free hot chocolate.

Free hot chocolate was offered to warm the cold Christmas parade participants and spectators.
The Mustard Seed & Shepherds Corner

One or two days a week parishioners deliver half gallon jugs of milk to the Mustard Seed.
Fresh eggs are also given periodically by another parishioner.

Monetary donations are periodically given to the Mustard Seed.

Parishioners also make donations of household items and clothing to the Mustard Seed.

Several baskets of food, cleaning supplies, and clothing were collected by Christ Church and St. Barnabas Chapel and delivered to Shepherd's Corner in Bridgeport during June and July 2023.
Hospitality to the 10 K Racers
On the day of the Clarksburg
Cecil Jarvis 10 K Race, Christ Church welcomed racers to use the church restrooms. The race begins directly in front of the church.
